Sin: an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.
The Old Testament uses 6 different nouns and 3 verbs to describe sin:
ra` rah; bad or (as noun) evil (natural or moral) (600 times)
chatta’ah (khaw-taw’); an offence (sometimes habitual sinfulness) (300 times)
rāšāʿ (raw-shaw’) wicked, criminal (250 times)
ʿāôn (aw-vone’) perversity, depravity, iniquity, guilt or punishment of iniquity
