Intercessor:

The high priest represented the people before God.

Jesus represented all sinners before God.

Sacrifices: The high priest offered sacrifices for the sins of the people and himself.

Jesus offered Himself as the sacrifice for the sins of the people.

Holy of Holies: Once a year on Yom Kippur, the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies to atone for the people and himself.

One time Jesus himself entered Heaven to atone for the people.

Political head: In the early Second Temple period, the high priest was the recognized political head of the nation, leading the people and maintaining order.

In His second coming, Jesus will be recognized as political head of all people, leading the nations and maintaining order.
